The star of the show

B&C DCX464-8 1.4" Neodymium Coaxial Compression Driver 8 Ohm 4-Bolt

After years of work, B&C engineers have developed a family of next generation high frequency devices. The DCX464-8 coaxial compression driver combines a midrange and high frequency driver into a single package that gives you extremely wide bandwidth and perfect time alignment. Compression drivers are the linchpin of a PA system: operating at wavelengths too small to readily couple with other drivers, they alone have to fight distance and atmospheric losses to deliver concert even and consistent sound pressure levels to ever larger audiences. The DCX464-8 avoids most of the issues with short wavelengths while still delivering the high output and low distortion that B&C drivers are known for.

The DCX464-8 has been designed from scratch to advance the state of the art. The DCX464’s midrange diaphragm covers 300Hz - 5.5kHz with 111.1 dB sensitivity, and its 100mm voice coil handles 110 watts RMS. The 64mm coil high frequency diaphragm covers 3 - 18kHz with 111.4 dB sensitivity and handles 80 watts RMS. With that extreme efficiency and power handling you can be sure that the DCX464 has the output capability to keep up with any woofer design. A patent pending midrange integrator allows both diaphragms to work in harmony over a wide bandwidth for greater combined output and crossover flexibility. All this energy arrives at a 1.4” throat, from the most compact package that can be designed today.

Brand new materials and thousands of hours of modelling and testing result in lower distortion at higher SPL than has ever been possible before. Consider the new DCX464 for your next design, and enjoy a new standard in fidelity, with the reliability and consistency you expect from B&C.

Midrange Specifications: • Power handling: 110 watts RMS with minimum crossover of 300 Hz at 12 dB per octave • VCdia: 4" • Impedance: 8 ohms • Frequency response: 300-5,500 Hz • SPL: 111.1 dB 1W/1m.

High Frequency Specifications: • Power handling: 80 watts RMS with minimum crossover of 4,000 Hz at 12 dB per octave • VCdia: 2.5" • Impedance: 8 ohms • Frequency response: 3,500-18,000 Hz • SPL: 111.4 dB 1W/1m.

The Crossover for the coax

B&C FB464-16 2-Way 3,500 Hz Passive Crossover For DCX464-16 Coaxial Compression Driver

B&C Speakers designed the FB464-16 2-way 3,500 Hz passive crossover specifically to allow the DXC464-16 coaxial compression driver to provide optimum performance and unmatched reliability. With included 1/4" solderless disconnects, installation and hookup are extremely simple and straight forward. The 18 dB low pass and 12 dB high pass allows a smooth and seamless transition and produces natural response through critical 3,500 Hz crossover point. In addition, the high pass section includes over power protection lamps to safeguard the high frequency diaphragm from damaging transient peaks and excessive power.

Specifications: • Power handling: 250 watts RMS, 500 watts program power • Crossover points: 3,500 Hz (18 db/octave low pass, 12 dB/octave high pass) • Dimensions: 3.94" x 4.33" • Weight: 0.8 lbs.

Constant Directivity Horn

B&C ME464 1.4" Constant Directivity Horn 80 x 60 4-Bolt

One of the largest commercially available horns for professional audio, the ME464 constant directivity horn, from B&C Speakers, makes it easy to extract optimum performance from any wide bandwidth 1.4" compression driver. With a 22" x 20" mouth, this remarkable constant directivity horn is capable of loading drivers down to 300 Hz to deliver unbelievably with bandwidth. Thanks to FEM optimization, the ME464 provides a remarkably even 80° x 60° dispersion pattern for predictable response and minimal unwanted reflections creating incredible sound quality and clarity to a controlled area. Weather used in fixed high output arrays or used in high efficiency 2 and 3-way home systems, the ME464 horn is ideal for building incredibly dynamic systems that deliver unbelievable fidelity.

B&C Speakers designed the ME464 horn to support the full frequency response of their popular DCX464 ring radiator coaxial drivers. However, with a 1.4" throat and standard 4-bolt mount, this horn is compatible with many popular wide bandwidth compression drivers.

Specifications: • Throat diameter: 1.4" • Driver mounting: 4-bolt • Nominal coverage: 80°H x 60° V • Cutoff frequency: 300 Hz • Dimensions: 19.88" H x 22.64" W x 18.11" D • Cutout dimensions: 18.5" H x 21.18" W • Net weight: 10.58 lbs.

Two 15s

B&C 15SW100 15" Professional Neodymium Subwoofer 8 Ohm

The B&C 15SW100 is an advanced, lightweight subwoofer driver featuring 1,500 watts RMS power handling, a 1.26" long/4.0" diameter copper voice coil with very high thermal capability, and a ventilated neodymium magnet assembly that provides low power compression. An aluminum demodulation ring fitted to the 15SW100's pole piece reduces distortion.

Assembly and notes

  • 18mm wood thickness (birch plywood suggested)
  • A good dampening material should be placed inside the woofers chambers except in the areas close to the ports.
  • M6 screws suggested for fixing the transducers.
  • 4 pins speakon recommended. Pins 1+/1- connect the two woofers in parallel. Pins 2+/2- are connected to the FB464 crossover inputs.
  • M6 screws suggested for fixing the transducers.
  • Handles shape and positions have to be intended as a suggestion
